WTF

Geoffrey Barker : June 29, 2016 7:03 pm

Suddenly got an urge (essentially out of nowhere) to make a cocktail with Branca Menta and Ginger something.   It could use some minor tweaking but is really quite good:

2 oz Rye
1 oz Ginger liqueur (New Deal Distillery, Portland OR)
.5 oz Campari
.5 oz Branca Menta

Stirred/Up

Maybe more Campari and a little less ginger (or maybe sub Cynar for campari and ? for Ginger).

Really good as it is though.

Notmaitai

Geoffrey Barker : June 12, 2014 5:43 pm

A real Mai Tai has Orgeat and other stuff.  This is a variation on a fake Mai Tai that Dana really liked:

1.5 oz. Applegate 12 year

.5oz. Wray and Nephew

.75oz Benedictine

1ishoz Pineapple Juice

Shake…  Garnish somehow.  If you want.  Or you could just drink the damn thing.

Norwegian Manhatten

Geoffrey Barker : August 30, 2013 7:04 pm

I recently returned from a vacation to Paris, Denmark, Antwerp and Iceland (I know I mixed Cities and Countries just then).  While in Copenhagen, we visited Juul’s Vinhandel (a post about Juul’s and the rest of the vacation soon).  When asked about Aquavit(s) they aimed me at several including a lovely Norwegian number from Gilde called Maquavit (marked as “Nord-Norges Aquavit” whatever that means).

As I have said before, (but not yet published) Juul’s is a spectacular liquor store.

Hi-jynx insue.

2 oz. Gilde Maquavit
1 oz.  Cherry Heering
.5oz. Lemon Juice

Shaken/Up
